1. Purpose of This Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how TribeBoard uses cookies, local storage, device identifiers, and similar technologies on the TribeBoard website, mobile application, and related services. It is intended to help users understand what technologies may be used, why they are used, and what choices users may have.

2. Relationship With Other Policies

This Cookie Policy should be read together with the TribeBoard Privacy Policy v4.1, Terms of Service v1.1, Child Safety Policy v1.1, Delete Account Policy v1.1, and any applicable School Data Processing Addendum. Where this Policy refers to personal information, the processing of such information is governed primarily by the Privacy Policy.

3. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on a browser or device when a user visits a website. Similar technologies may include local storage, session storage, pixels, device identifiers, software development kits, and authentication tokens. These technologies help websites and applications function, remember preferences, improve performance, and protect user accounts.

4. Website Cookies

The TribeBoard website may use cookies and similar technologies to support basic website functionality, security, session management, analytics, and user preferences. The exact cookies used may change as the website develops and as service providers change.

5. Mobile App Technologies

The TribeBoard mobile application does not use browser cookies in the same way as a website. However, the app may use device-local storage, authentication tokens, push notification tokens, app preferences, and platform-specific identifiers to keep users signed in, deliver notifications, remember settings, and provide app functionality.

6. Categories of Cookies and Similar Technologies

TribeBoard may use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies.

6.1 Essential Cookies and Technologies

Essential cookies and technologies are required for the website or app to function correctly. They may be used for authentication, security, account access, session management, fraud prevention, and service availability. These technologies cannot generally be disabled without affecting core functionality.

6.2 Functional Cookies and Technologies

Functional technologies help TribeBoard remember user preferences and improve the user experience. Examples may include language preferences, region settings, interface preferences, saved settings, or device-specific preferences.

6.3 Analytics Cookies and Technologies

Analytics technologies help TribeBoard understand how users interact with the website and services. They may be used to measure page visits, feature usage, performance, error events, and general engagement patterns. Where possible, analytics will be aggregated or de-identified.

6.4 Security Cookies and Technologies

Security technologies help detect suspicious activity, protect accounts, prevent fraud, maintain platform integrity, and investigate security events.

7. Push Notification Tokens

Where users enable push notifications, TribeBoard may obtain a push notification token from the relevant platform provider, such as Apple Push Notification service or Google/Firebase services where applicable. This token is used to send service notifications such as school-run updates, reminders, household alerts, safety notices, and account activity messages. Push notification tokens are not used for advertising targeting.

8. Local Storage

TribeBoard may use local storage or similar device-based storage to maintain session state, remember user settings, store app preferences, and support offline or performance-related functionality. Users may clear some locally stored information through device settings, browser settings, or by uninstalling the app, but deleting the app is not the same as deleting a TribeBoard account.

9. Third-Party Providers

TribeBoard may rely on trusted service providers that use cookies or similar technologies to provide infrastructure, authentication, payment processing, email delivery, security monitoring, analytics, or platform functionality. These providers may include Supabase, Stripe, Apple, Google, Resend, and other approved providers as disclosed in the Privacy Policy.

10. Advertising and Tracking

TribeBoard does not use cookies or device identifiers to track users across third-party apps or websites for advertising purposes. TribeBoard does not sell personal information and does not use child data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or data broker services.

11. Children and Cookies

Because TribeBoard may involve Child Profiles, TribeBoard applies heightened care to child-related information. Cookies and similar technologies are not used to target children with advertising. Child-related information is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy and Child Safety Policy.

12. Cookie Choices

Users may manage cookies through browser settings, device settings, operating system controls, or settings provided within TribeBoard where available. Disabling certain cookies or technologies may affect functionality, security, login sessions, notifications, or user experience.

13. Browser Controls

Most browsers allow users to block, delete, or manage cookies. Browser settings differ by provider. Users should consult their browser’s help resources for instructions on managing cookies.

14. Mobile Controls

Mobile device settings may allow users to manage notifications, location permissions, app tracking preferences, local storage, and app permissions. Users may disable notifications or location permissions at any time, but some TribeBoard features may not function without those permissions.

15. Cookie Consent

Where required by applicable law, TribeBoard may display cookie notices, consent banners, or preference tools on the website. Consent preferences may be stored to remember user choices.

16. Changes to This Cookie Policy

TribeBoard may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Material updates may be communicated through website notices, in-app notices, email, or other reasonable methods. Continued use of TribeBoard after updates become effective constitutes acknowledgement of the updated Policy.
